ALGEBRA I
Welcome back to school for the 2019-2020 academic year. My name is Mrs. Zamora and I will be teaching Algebra I to your student. I am excited to have your child in my class this year! I look forward to working with parents and students to make this a wonderful school year for everyone!
Algebra I is a HIGH SCHOOL COURSE which means the grade in this course will be on the student’s high school transcript. Your student must maintain a 80% or better through the end of the quarter to remain in the class. Algebra I is a high school graduation requirement, in order for your student to get the high school credit the student must also pass the end of the year EOC exam. End of Course Exam: Algebra 1/Algebra 1 Honors (for HS Credit): Middle school students taking Algebra 1 must take the EOC and it will be 30% of the final grade in the course. These students will NOT take the corresponding standard subject and grade-level Florida Standards Assessment. Passing the Algebra 1 EOC is a high school graduation requirement.
Taking a High School Credit in Middle School is an honor and a privilege, students not working accordingly to the expectations will be moved to the 8th grade Pre-Algebra course.
Please refer to my classrooms policies and procedures, read them carefully and feel free to reach out to me if you have a question. I also encourage you to check Cross-point frequently for an update on your child grades and progress. Open communication is a key to a successful year in math. If you have any questions throughout the year, please don’t hesitate to contact me via phone or through email: [email protected]
